WhatsApp has begun testing a multi-account switching feature in its latest iOS beta release, version 25.19.10.74, available via the TestFlight program. The update reveals ongoing development to enable users to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts within a single app instance, eliminating the need for WhatsApp Business or multiple devices to separate personal and professional messaging.
The feature was first spotted in version 25.9.10.70 and has since seen refinements. Although it remains under development and is not yet accessible to beta testers, it is expected to roll out in a future update. When released, users will be able to add additional accounts from the settings page by either registering a new phone number or linking an existing account through a QR code.

According to early insights, each account will maintain separate settings, chat histories, and notification preferences, allowing clear distinctions between accounts. A new section within the settings menu will display all registered accounts, complete with profile photos and names for easy identification. Switching between accounts will be seamless and instantaneous, without requiring logouts or app restarts. Upon switching, users will see a brief confirmation banner indicating the active account.
In line with this feature, WhatsApp is developing a new notification system tailored for multi-account users. Notifications for messages arriving on secondary accounts will display both the sender’s name and the account name, minimising confusion when managing multiple conversations across different profiles. Tapping such a notification will instantly switch the user to the relevant account and open the specific message thread.
This functionality will be especially beneficial for users managing multiple phone numbers or those with eSIM-capable iPhones, which support multiple active lines. It removes the need to carry separate devices or depend on the Business version of WhatsApp for account separation, streamlining communication workflows for professionals, freelancers, and individuals who maintain distinct personal and work contact networks.
While WhatsApp has not confirmed a release date for the public rollout of this feature, development is progressing with refinements aimed at ensuring a smooth and efficient user experience upon launch. More details are expected in upcoming beta updates as the company continues to expand WhatsApp’s utility for its global user base.
