Snapchat rolls out sponsored AI lenses in UAE and Saudi Arabia

Snapchat has introduced its Sponsored AI Lenses in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, marking a strategic push into AI-powered advertising in the Gulf region. The new format leverages Snap’s proprietary generative AI to create hyper-stylized, immersive visual experiences designed for user engagement and brand storytelling.

Sponsored AI Lenses allow users to modify their appearance and surroundings with AI-generated effects, blending playfulness with brand integration. These lenses go beyond simple filters, transforming user-generated content into dynamic promotional tools that are both personal and easily shareable. For advertisers, this creates a new channel to place their brand at the center of self-expression—one of the key drivers of interaction on the platform.

The feature is already gaining traction with high-profile partners. Coldplay, fresh off hosting the largest concert series in UAE history, used a Sponsored AI Lens to promote its Moon Music project. The lens invited fans into a visually rich, celestial experience that reinforced the band’s branding while sparking social sharing and digital engagement.

By integrating generative AI, the Sponsored AI Lenses reduce reliance on labor-intensive 3D modeling and VFX production. Brands can now develop polished, interactive content in as little as three days, opening the door to more agile and frequent campaigns. This efficiency makes the format accessible across industries, whether for fashion, entertainment, automotive, or retail.

Snapchat users in the GCC—who reportedly open the app more than 45 times daily—are a particularly active audience for such features. Positioned within the Lens Carousel, where over 300 million users engage with AR daily, Sponsored AI Lenses offer broad reach and strong performance metrics, with advertisers seeing as much as 25–45% more impressions in a single day. Beyond reach, the format is built to drive full-funnel results, supporting everything from brand awareness to click-throughs and shares, all from a single, native placement.

As Snapchat continues to expand its capabilities in augmented reality and AI, this new ad format signals a deeper integration of immersive tech into everyday mobile interaction. For brands, it offers a streamlined path to stay culturally relevant while connecting with one of the most engaged digital audiences in the region. The launch of Sponsored AI Lenses in the UAE and Saudi Arabia highlights the growing role of visual and interactive media in mobile advertising—and the increasing appetite for more personalized, tech-forward experiences.
