Siri 2.0: here’s how AI will function on your Apple devices soon

Hold onto your hats, Apple fans, because Siri is about to get a major AI-powered makeover in iOS 18 and macOS 15! According to AppleInsider’s exclusive report, here are all the juicy details.

Forget simple commands like “Open Safari.” Siri is leveling up its language skills, understanding natural, human-like requests. Imagine telling Siri, “Hey, I’m feeling nostalgic, show me photos of my cat from last summer’s beach trip,” and actually getting relevant results. Mind. Blown.

This AI-infused Siri will seamlessly integrate into your favorite apps, like Books, Camera, Keynote, Mail, Notes, Photos,Reminders, Safari, Stocks, and even Voice Memos. Need to find a specific book or section in the Books app? Siri’s got you covered. Want to take a hands-free selfie in portrait mode? Just ask Siri.

Even your productivity apps are getting a boost. Siri can now add images, videos, or comments to your Keynote presentations, create new notes with specific tags, and even summarize your emails. It’s like having a personal assistant right in your pocket (or on your wrist).

And for those who love keeping tabs on the market, Siri can now dish out the latest business news and create watchlists in the Stocks app. Plus, the Voice Memos app is getting a major upgrade with in-app audio transcription, making it easier than ever to capture and organize your thoughts.

But wait, there’s more! Siri will be able to describe objects for you in the Magnifier app and even generate images in the internal Generative Playground app. And with the new Greymatter Catch-Up feature, you’ll get a quick summary of your most recent notifications.

Not to be outdone, other Apple apps are also getting some love. The Calculator app is getting a fresh redesign and will finally be available on iPad. The Maps app will allow you to add personal notes to locations. And while a built-in ad blocker for Safari might not be happening (thanks, advertisers!), the browser will still get some new tricks up its sleeve.

So, get ready for a whole new Siri experience that’s smarter, more intuitive, and seamlessly integrated into your Apple devices. WWDC 2024 is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see all the exciting new features Apple has in store for us.

Here’s the list of apps getting an AI boost:

  • Calendar
  • Camera
  • Contacts
  • Files
  • Freeform
  • Generative Playground (internal)
  • Keynote
  • Mail
  • Magnifier
