Swiss privacy champion Proton has launched Proton Docs, positioning it as a privacy-centric alternative to Google Drive and Docs. This new offering provides users with end-to-end encrypted document creation, editing, and collaboration, all seamlessly integrated with Proton’s secure cloud storage service, Proton Drive.
The key highlight of Proton Docs is its unwavering commitment to privacy. With end-to-end encryption, not even Proton can access your documents’ content or metadata, ensuring your sensitive information remains confidential. Furthermore,all data is stored on Swiss servers, subject to stringent Swiss privacy laws, adding another layer of protection.
Proton Docs boasts an array of features, including rich text editing, compatibility with various file formats (including Microsoft .docx), commenting and collaboration tools, image embedding, and real-time collaborative cursors. Proton plans to introduce additional collaboration features in the future, further enhancing the platform’s capabilities.
