Philips launches futuristic smart home products

Philips has unveiled an impressive array of new products, with the standout being the Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock. This innovative device not only uses a physical key, PIN code, and the Philips mobile app, but it also features a built-in palm scanner, making it one of the most advanced smart locks of 2024.

According to Philips, the palm scanner identifies users by their unique palm vein patterns, providing an almost unhackable security solution for families. The setup is straightforward, thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi that eliminates the need for a secondary bridge. Additionally, the smart lock is compatible with voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

In an added convenience, the 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock includes a doorbell button and chime. To assist visitors, the button illuminates when someone approaches, indicating where to press to alert the homeowners. Pressing the button sends an alert to the included doorbell chime, which plugs into a standard electrical outlet and offers five volume levels and 38 unique melodies.

While the Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock is larger than some other models due to its extensive functionality, it maintains a sleek appearance, though not as streamlined as devices like the Yale Assure Lock 2.

New Smart Home Devices from Philips

In addition to the 5000 Series, Philips has launched the Retrofit Lock 3000 Series, a versatile retrofit smart lock that can be operated using a wireless keypad or the mobile app. Philips also introduced the 7000 Series Video Doorbell, featuring 2K resolution, HDR support for enhanced color accuracy, and both low-angle and ultrawide viewing angles to eliminate blind spots.

All three products are now available for purchase. The Philips Home Access 5000 Series Palm Recognition Smart Lock is priced at $360. The Retrofit Lock 3000 Series comes in two options: $260 bundled with the Wireless Key and $220 as a standalone lock. The 7000 Series Smart Video Doorbell is available for $230. Despite entering a competitive market with rivals like Yale, Arlo, and Ring, these new Philips products stand out with their unique features and stylish designs, offering attractive alternatives to existing options.
