Marshall has introduced the Middleton II, a follow-up to its popular Middleton portable speaker, expanding its summer lineup with a model designed for users who prioritise battery life, portability, and powerful audio performance. The launch comes shortly after the release of the Kilburn III, reinforcing Marshall’s approach to segmenting its portable speaker range based on sound output and playback time.
The Middleton II builds on its predecessor by offering over 30 hours of continuous playtime, catering to those who need a speaker that can last through long sessions without frequent recharging. For quick top-ups, Marshall says a 20-minute charge provides enough power to resume listening promptly, adding practical convenience for travel or outdoor use.

Audio performance has also received attention in this iteration. The Middleton II is engineered to deliver deeper bass and maintain clarity even at maximum volume levels, features that will appeal to listeners who expect rich, full-bodied sound in a compact format. Its 360º True Stereophonic sound design ensures audio fills the surrounding space evenly, regardless of where the listener is positioned in relation to the speaker.
Designed for portability, the Middleton II fits comfortably in one hand, making it easy to carry between rooms or outdoors. Its IP67 dust and water-resistance rating means it can withstand splashes or exposure to dirt, adding durability for daily use or trips to the beach and poolside.
Marshall has also refined usability with simplified controls that allow users to play, pause, skip tracks, and adjust volume through intuitive press or twist gestures. This streamlining is in line with Marshall’s effort to remove what it describes as “unnecessary complexity” from its device interfaces, creating a more accessible experience for casual and frequent users alike.

The speaker retains Marshall’s classic amplifier-inspired aesthetic, characterised by a robust build and retro-styled finishes that have become part of the brand’s identity in the portable audio market. Beyond music playback, the Middleton II integrates a built-in microphone for speakerphone calls and supports LE Audio, ensuring compatibility with the latest low-energy wireless audio standards for improved efficiency and sound quality.
Additional practicality comes from the speaker’s ability to double as a power bank, allowing users to charge their smartphones using its internal battery — a feature that further enhances its value as an all-in-one portable audio companion.
According to Marshall, the Middleton II will be available on its website for $329.99, with broader retail availability scheduled from July 15th. As the portable speaker market continues to prioritise features like extended battery life, durable design, and strong bass performance, the Middleton II positions itself as a capable option for those seeking a blend of signature Marshall styling with modern audio and usability upgrades.
