Huawei’s tri-folding phone: leaked image fuels excitement

Back in July, rumors hinted at Huawei’s ambitious pursuit of a groundbreaking three-screen foldable, potentially outpacing Samsung and other competitors. Recent leaks from Digital Chat Station suggest that this tri-folding marvel is on the cusp of production. Excitingly, a leaked image showcasing former Huawei CEO Yu Richard using such a device onboard a plane has surfaced, giving us our first glimpse of this innovation in action.

The image reveals a phone with a centered punch hole for the selfie camera on the left side and two distinct creases, hinting at the presence of two hinges, a departure from conventional foldable phones. This evidence strongly suggests that Huawei is indeed the manufacturer behind the much-anticipated tri-foldable. Further confirmation comes from Digital Chat Station, who asserts that the device in the photos closely resembles a Huawei prototype they had seen earlier.

Previous reports indicated a 10-inch display and a unique hinge design. Now, Digital Chat Station adds that the phone will boast a Kirin 9-series chipset, initially expected to debut on the Mate 70. However, the tri-foldable is slated for an earlier launch, potentially around September or October, preceding the Mate 70 series, which is likely to arrive in late 2024.

Unfortunately, Huawei’s foldables typically have limited availability outside of China, making it a challenge to acquire them unless you’re willing to import. This is particularly true in the US, where Huawei phones haven’t been officially sold for some time.
