At MWC Shanghai 2024, HONOR showcased two new on-device AI features: AI Defocus Eye Protection and AI Deepfake Detection. These technologies aim to upscale user safety and smartphone capabilities.
AI Defocus Eye Protection addresses the growing issue of nearsightedness caused by prolonged screen use. By simulating defocus glasses on the device’s display, it induces controlled blur in peripheral vision, slowing the eye elongation process linked to myopia. Research indicates this technology can significantly reduce transient myopia, with average reductions of 13 degrees after 25 minutes of reading.

AI Deepfake Detection combats the threat of online scams and digitally manipulated content. By analyzing frame-by-frame details like eye contact, lighting, and image clarity, it detects flaws invisible to the human eye. This feature is trained on a vast dataset of scam-related content and can quickly identify, screen, and compare potential deepfakes within seconds, issuing risk warnings to protect users.
HONOR emphasizes its commitment to human-centric on-device AI, believing it can empower users with personalized services while safeguarding privacy.
