Google is expanding access to Gemini Live, bringing its conversational AI tool to Workspace accounts after initially launching for consumer users. The feature, which enables more interactive and voice-based experiences with Gemini, is starting to roll out across a range of Workspace tiers, with full availability expected in the coming weeks.
Previously, the Gemini app for enterprise users on Android and iOS offered only basic functionality—primarily text-based prompts and a send button. Now, the addition of the Gemini Live waveform icon introduces real-time voice interactions, allowing users to speak directly with Gemini and receive spoken responses.
This enhancement opens up several use cases within professional and educational settings. Users can now engage in voice-based brainstorming sessions, develop presentation ideas, or rehearse pitches with AI-generated feedback. The tool can also assist with exploratory discussions around product features, research planning, or creative strategy development.
Beyond audio interaction, Gemini Live includes support for camera and screen sharing through Google’s Astra interface. Users can show visuals or documents in real time, giving the AI additional context to better understand and respond to complex queries. Gemini also supports media input, enabling users to reference specific images, files, or YouTube videos during their conversation.
Eligibility for Gemini Live spans a broad set of Google Workspace plans. These include Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus; Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus; Frontline Starter and Standard; as well as various Essentials tiers. Gemini-specific add-ons—such as Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, and Gemini Education Premium—are also supported. Access is limited to users over the age of 18.
This rollout marks a notable step in Google’s broader push to integrate AI more deeply into its productivity suite. While consumer tools often receive features first, the inclusion of Gemini Live in Workspace reflects growing interest in AI-driven collaboration within business and education environments.
