Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x debuts with double air pressure and RFID smart attachments

Dyson is rolling out its new Airwrap Co-anda 2x multi-styler and hair dryer in the UAE and Saudi Arabia starting 1st July 2025, offering upgrades aimed at improving everyday hair styling without increasing heat exposure. This latest model arrives with a redesigned motor – the Hyperdymium 2 – delivering twice the air pressure of its predecessor, intended to make curling more effective, drying times shorter, and straightening easier to achieve in one pass.

The Airwrap Co-anda 2x remains a multi-functional tool, combining drying, curling, waving, straightening, smoothing, and volumising capabilities into a single device. Dyson states it has refined the motor design to produce higher airflow without added noise, with the motor spinning up to 150,000 rpm, which is notably faster than an F1 car engine. However, these figures translate into practical results only when paired with attachments that use the increased airflow efficiently, and this is where Dyson’s focus on intelligent design emerges.

Each attachment for the Airwrap Co-anda 2x carries an RFID chip, enabling the tool to automatically adjust its temperature and airflow for that specific attachment, while still allowing user customisation via the MyDyson app. The i.d. curl feature, for example, offers a preset four-step curling sequence that wraps, sets, and releases curls at the push of a button, aiming to create uniform results regardless of hair type or user experience level.

The device also features sensors that monitor filter attachment and cleaning needs, as well as two thermistors that measure air temperature a thousand times per second to keep heat levels stable, an approach designed to prevent damage from excessive heat exposure. Despite the increased motor power, Dyson has made the Airwrap Co-anda 2x smaller and lighter to improve handling, which will likely appeal to users styling thick or long hair regularly.

In the UAE and KSA, customers will have access to two main sets tailored for different hair types upon launch on 1st July 2025. The Straight + Wavy set includes 30mm and 40mm Coanda curling barrels, an anti-snag loop brush, round volumising brush, AirSmooth attachment, and fast dryer. The Curly + Coily set swaps in a tension comb and Wave+Curl diffuser alongside a similar range of barrels and brushes. Additional standalone attachments such as the 20mm curling barrel and Wave+Curl diffuser are also available separately to expand styling options further.

Dyson continues to market its styling tools around the idea of hair health, integrating the Airwrap Co-anda 2x with its Chitosan formulations – a product line derived from oyster mushrooms, designed to maintain style longevity without compromising hair condition. While the new Airwrap’s technological advances cater to those seeking a fast and efficient styling routine, the real test will be whether the higher air pressure and RFID adaptability translate into tangible improvements in everyday use, justifying its premium pricing in a competitive beauty technology market.
