OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has confirmed that the highly anticipated ChatGPT Voice Mode will start rolling out to a small group of Plus subscribers next week. This announcement comes after months of anticipation and follows a previous delay due to the need for further improvements to the model’s safety features.

While the initial rollout will be limited, OpenAI plans to expand access to all Plus subscribers by the fall. The new Voice Mode promises real-time, natural conversations with AI and will integrate audio, text, and video inputs for a more immersive experience.

Several demo videos showcasing the Voice Mode’s capabilities, including improv routines, interview roleplay, and language learning assistance, have fueled excitement among ChatGPT users. The new mode is expected to revolutionize AI voice assistants with its potential for fluid and consistent conversations.

OpenAI’s upcoming updates, including the prototype of its SearchGPT search engine, indicate a significant push towards enhancing AI-powered experiences. While the full rollout of Voice Mode might take some time, this initial release marks an important step in OpenAI’s quest to redefine human-AI interaction.
