CES 2025: L’Oréal introduces AI-powered skin analysis device

L’Oréal Groupe has unveiled a groundbreaking skincare innovation at CES 2025: L’Oréal Cell BioPrint, a device that provides personalized skin analysis in just five minutes. This tabletop device utilizes advanced proteomics, the study of proteins and their impact on biological processes, to offer a deeper understanding of individual skin health.

Through a collaboration with Korean startup NanoEnTek, L’Oréal has integrated lab-grade technology into a compact device capable of detecting patented biomarkers within the skin. These biomarkers offer insights into the skin’s condition over time, enabling more precise and personalized skincare recommendations.

How it Works

The Cell BioPrint analyzes several key aspects of skin health:

  • Biological Age of Skin: Determines the rate of skin aging at a cellular level and provides tailored recommendations to slow down the process.
  • Ingredient Responsiveness: Evaluates the effectiveness of key ingredients, such as retinol, for the individual user.
  • Proactive Skincare Planning: Predicts potential skin issues before they become visible, allowing for preventative measures.

The analysis process involves a simple cheek swab, facial imaging, and a brief questionnaire about skin concerns.

The Science Behind the Innovation

L’Oréal’s research has identified unique biomarkers in the skin that correlate with health and longevity. By leveraging NanoEnTek’s microfluidic lab-on-a-chip technology, the Cell BioPrint can analyze these biomarkers quickly and non-invasively, bringing personalized skin assessments to beauty counters.

Meeting the Growing Demand for Personalization

The launch of L’Oréal Cell BioPrint aligns with the increasing consumer demand for personalized skincare solutions. By minimizing trial and error, the device empowers users to make informed decisions based on their unique skin biology.

L’Oréal Cell BioPrint is scheduled to pilot with a L’Oréal brand in Asia later in 2025, with the potential for wider adoption in the future. This innovation highlights L’Oréal’s commitment to merging scientific research with beauty expertise to provide consumers with more effective and personalized skincare solutions.
