Apple Watch users will have an opportunity to earn a special limited-edition award on April 24 by closing all three Activity rings as part of Global Close Your Rings Day. Those who complete their Move, Exercise, and Stand goals will receive an exclusive digital badge along with 10 animated stickers for Messages.
The event aims to spotlight the long-standing role of the Apple Watch as a daily activity tracker and health monitor. First introduced in 2015, the Activity rings have since become a central feature of the Apple Watch experience. Users can customize their goals to match their lifestyle and pause tracking when taking a rest day.
On April 24, users are encouraged to take part by completing all three Activity goals and sharing their progress using the hashtag #CloseYourRings. In addition to digital rewards, Apple will also offer a limited supply of commemorative pins available at retail locations globally.
The announcement coincides with new findings from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, which analyzed data from over 140,000 participants. The research found that users who consistently closed their rings were:
- 48% less likely to experience poor sleep quality
- 73% less likely to have elevated resting heart rates
- 57% less likely to report high stress levels
The study, conducted in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the American Heart Association, suggests strong links between physical activity and overall well-being, regardless of age or gender.

In addition to tracking activity, Apple Watch users have access to a wide range of health features, including:
- Workout tracking across disciplines like running, cycling, swimming, and hiking
- Sleep monitoring and heart health alerts
- Menstrual cycle tracking and medication reminders
- Noise exposure monitoring and cardio fitness assessments
All health and fitness data collected by Apple Watch is protected with end-to-end encryption when stored in iCloud, and remains inaccessible to Apple when standard privacy settings and device protections are enabled.
The Global Close Your Rings Day award is available to users with watchOS 5.0 or later. To participate, users simply need to complete all three rings on April 24. The event not only offers a fun incentive but also highlights the potential health benefits of maintaining consistent activity throughout the day.
As Apple continues to expand its research efforts, the company is focusing on how wearable tech can provide personalized, science-backed insights that help users stay active and informed about their health.
