Design and Hardware, and Display

The HONOR Pad X9 is a thin device at 6.9mm, weighs 495g with an 11.5-inch 120Hz HONOR Fullview display. The display comes at a resolution of 2000×1200 pixels (203ppi), with a refresh rate of 120Hz, and 400 nits of brightness. The tablet has an 86% screen-to-body ratio.

Overall the tablet is very comfortable to hold and use. There are 2 speakers on each side of the tablet while holding it in landscape mode, with an additional 2 at the bottom, all High-Res Audio and High-Res Wireless Audio certified. The volume rocker and power button sit at the top. The USB-C charging port sits on the right side as well. On the back sits the camera module with and ‘AI Camera’ branding.

The HONOR Pad X9 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 685 4G octa-core processor, couples with 4GB of RAM, expandable by 3GB of virtual RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage.

A quick not here, there is no fingerprint reader on this device, but face unlock works fairly quickly. We of course recommend a good old pin lock option instead.

Battery wise, the HONOR X9 comes with a 7250mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging, and on s single charge we are able to get around 8 hours of screen on time, which is ok for this type of tablets, and more than enough for home use.

Performance, Software, and Cameras

The Pad X9 is a very responsive device, apps are quick to open, and multitasking works well thanks to the virtual memory we previously mentioned. We experienced occasional drops, but to be honest, we were pushing the tablet to its limit, even though we knew a tablet at this category wouldn’t handle it ☺️.

To be fair, this tablet CAN handle your day to day tasks like emails, browsing, social media, and streaming just fine, but don’t expect it to perform well with heavy games, so keep that in mind while making your buying decision.

Software wise, the X9 runs on Android 13 with HONOR’s MagicOS 7.1 on top. Magic OS 7.1 has all the features you will find on an HONOR phone, and additions for tablets like resizing app windows and moving the around and placing apps side by side when in landscape mode.

Cameras on tablets are really nothing to look at, as they serve minimal purpose, like video conferencing or shooting documents, or quick photos that needs to be shared for example, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking here. You’ll have a 5MP back camera with an aperture of f2.2, and a similar 5MP camera on the front.

Verdict

This is a great budget tablet at AED 799 to be honest, and is suitable to be around the house of basic everyday use, with kids specially.
