Milestone has released its latest version of the motorbike game, RIDE 5. The game competes directly with MotoGP, but does it have what it takes to make it ?
Like most games, RIDE 5 begins with a tutorial which introduces the controls, features, bikes, and tracks. Additionally, players will be presented with a career mode that will plan out the steps to take to become a professional racer.
From there, you can start customizing how the racer appears, from country, to uniforms, and then go into a deeper customization of your bike, where you choose from a variety of licensed models and change colors, decals, components which help better tune the performance of your bike. Users can head over to their garage as well and customize though in-game purchases.
Visually, RIDE 5 is great. From the course graphics, sceneries, weather, to of course the bike dynamics and visuals, the levels of attention and details is superb to be honest, and gives a real feel thought out the game.
Starting the game, racers can play by choosing different race categories and compete to make their way up the rankings, and collect rewards and points which can be used to upgrade bikes.
Multiplayers mode returns in RIDE 5, letting you compete against others around the world and compare scores and progress. We really enjoyed playing with competing races, it added a sense of challenge which makes the game even more appealing.
Still within the multiplayer mode, RIDE 5 also brings back its split-screen couch co-op mode, which was removed in previous versions. Couch co-op mode allows 2 players to compete using the same local console.
Finally, Milestone has added a Neural AI system dubbed Riding Aids. The AI integration basically functions as an assisted mode for players who are new to the game and want to have some sort of training on how to master driving their bikes. The AI can support racers with throttling, auto braking, curves and other supported options. You can also choose the level of assistance required.
RIDE 5 is a fulfilling motorbike racing game for sure. Beginners and experienced gamers will enjoy this version which offer amazing visuals, customization options.
