Sakhr Computers was a Kuwaiti company that was founded in 1982 by Mohammed AlSharekh. The company’s goal was to develop and sell Arabic-language software and hardware products for the Middle East market.

Sakhr’s first major product was the Sakhr MSX, an Arabic-localized version of the popular MSX home computer platform. The Sakhr MSX was a commercial success, selling over two million units across the Arab world.

In addition to the Sakhr MSX, Sakhr also developed a number of other Arabic-language software products, including word processors, spreadsheets, and educational software. The company also provided Arabic language localization services to other software companies.

In 1990, following the Gulf War, Sakhr relocated its headquarters from Kuwait to Cairo, Egypt. After the relocation, the company changed its focus to software development and ceased manufacturing computer hardware.

Today, Sakhr is a leading provider of Arabic language technology products and services. The company’s products are used by governments, businesses, and educational institutions across the Middle East.

Here are some of the key milestones in the history of Sakhr Computers:

  • 1982: Sakhr Computers is founded by Mohammed AlSharekh in Kuwait.

  • 1995: Sakhr launches its first e-government product.
