Nothing Chats pulled From Google Play Store after major privacy concerns

Nothing launched the Nothing Chats messaging platform last week in an aim to bridge the messaging gap between Android and iOS devices in collaboration with Sunbird. The messaging app was suppose to allow Nothing Phone 2 users to send and receive messages via to iMessage users.

Since launch, the company has received many concerns over privacy issues, which led Nothing to pull the app from the Google Play Store, and said that it’s delaying the launch until further notice to work with Sunbird to fix several bugs.

Reports have suggested that messages sent with Sunbird’s system aren’t actually end-to-end encrypted — and that it’s not hard to compromise it.

We've removed the Nothing Chats beta from the Play Store and will be delaying the launch until further notice to work with Sunbird to fix several bugs.

We apologise for the delay and will do right by our users.
