Alexa is getting a massive upgrade with a new generative AI model based on a custom-built large language model (LLM), to supercharge experiences across its Echo devices family.

Our latest model has been specifically optimised for voice and the things we know our customers love—like having access to real-time information, efficiently controlling their smart home, and getting the most out of their home entertainment

Dave Limp, SVP of devices and services, Amazon

Amazon says the new Alexa is more conversational, offers ‘real-time info’ and take into consideration body language as well as eye contact and gestures.

Some of the other Alexa features include: lower latency, sensors within Echo devices to understand non-verbal cues, integration with third-party APIs.
