Samsung has expanded its foldable lineup with the official launch of the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, alongside the new Galaxy Watch8 series. While the Fold7 headlines as Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable to date, the Flip7 introduces meaningful updates to the flip form factor, bringing a larger FlexWindow and deeper AI integration in a pocket-sized device.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 retains Samsung’s focus on refining rather than reinventing foldables. It is lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra at just 215 grams and unfolds to an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, now 11% larger than the previous generation. It also features a 6.5-inch cover screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and peak brightness up to 2,600 nits, maintaining visibility outdoors. Under the hood, the Fold7 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, supporting AI-powered features like real-time translation and Generative Edit without reliance on the cloud.

Durability enhancements continue with a redesigned Armor FlexHinge, thicker Ultra-Thin Glass, and a titanium plate layer. The rear camera setup debuts a 200MP wide-angle sensor for high-detail shots, complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Samsung’s ProVisual Engine ensures low-light performance is improved, while editing tools like Generative Edit and Audio Eraser gain smarter suggestions and cleaner outputs directly on-device.
Joining the Fold7 is the Galaxy Z Flip7, which refines Samsung’s clamshell foldable with a new edge-to-edge 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover display, the largest yet on a Galaxy Flip. The FlexWindow supports smoother interaction with a 120Hz refresh rate, mirroring the Flip7’s 6.9-inch main screen. Samsung positions it as a compact AI phone, integrating Gemini Live for voice-driven tasks, quick search, and contextual assistance directly from the cover screen.

Despite its slim design at 13.7mm folded and weighing just 188 grams, the Flip7 manages a 4,300mAh battery – the largest ever in a Galaxy Flip – offering up to 31 hours of video playback. Powered by the Exynos 2500, it introduces Samsung DeX to the Flip lineup for the first time, turning it into a pocket-sized workstation when connected to an external display.
The Flip7’s dual rear camera setup includes a 50MP wide-angle and 12MP ultra-wide lens, with enhancements to Nightography and HDR video. Selfies benefit from features such as Real-Time Filters, Zoom Slider, and Dual Preview directly from the FlexWindow, allowing for high-quality captures without unfolding the phone.
Samsung is also targeting broader affordability with the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Featuring a 6.7-inch main display and a smaller 3.4-inch cover screen, the Flip7 FE keeps many of the Flip7’s signature traits while utilising an Exynos 2400 processor and an 8GB RAM option. Its simplified design focuses on essential foldable experiences like FlexCam and compact portability.

Complementing the foldables is the Galaxy Watch8 series, which brings a thinner cushion design for improved comfort, a brighter display up to 3,000 nits, and Samsung’s most advanced BioActive sensor yet. New health features include Bedtime Guidance, Antioxidant Index, and Vascular Load tracking, while AI-driven tools such as Energy Score and Running Coach provide tailored wellness recommendations. The Watch8 series ships with Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch, introducing Gemini integration for voice-activated tasks.

Samsung’s announcements highlight an evolution of foldables with incremental but practical enhancements. While hardware upgrades like thinner hinges, brighter displays, and larger batteries mark engineering progress, the greater shift is software-focused, as Samsung leans into on-device AI to differentiate its foldables from conventional flagship smartphones.
Pre-orders for the Fold7, Flip7, Flip7 FE, and Watch8 series begin on July 9, with general availability starting July 25. The Fold7 is offered in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and Mint (online exclusive), while the Flip7 arrives in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and Mint. The Flip7 FE is available in Black or White. As foldables mature, Samsung’s strategy is clear: consolidate design refinements with AI-enabled experiences to maintain its lead in the premium foldable market.
