Just in time for Halloween, Instagram has rolled out a bevy of interactive features and creative tools to help users celebrate the spooky season. From AI-generated costumes to themed templates and eerie effects, Instagram is making it easier than ever to connect with friends and share the Halloween spirit.
One of the highlights of this Halloween update is the integration of Meta AI’s Imagine feature. Users can now transform themselves into classic Halloween creatures like vampires and zombies using AI-generated costumes. These virtual makeovers can be shared in Stories, inviting friends to join the fun and show off their own spooky looks.
Instagram is adding a playful touch to conversations with interactive elements in Direct Messages and Notes. Using Halloween-themed keywords like “Happy Halloween” or “Trick-or-treat,” or emojis such as the jack-o’-lantern, ghost, or spider web, will trigger special effects and animations, making your chats more engaging.
Five custom Halloween Add Yours templates are also making their debut. These templates, found in the ‘Happy Halloween’ section of the Add Yours Templates Discovery Surface in Stories, offer a fun way to participate in Halloween trends and connect with other users.
Instagram is also introducing a new Halloween-themed font appropriately named “Halloween” and a “Haunted” text effect. These stylistic elements can be applied to Stories, Feed posts, and Reels, allowing for greater personalization and creativity.
And to complete the Halloween atmosphere, a special chat theme is available for DMs and Instagram broadcast channels.
This isn’t the first time Instagram has embraced interactive and creative features. The platform has a history of introducing innovative tools, such as augmented reality filters for trying on makeup and accessories, interactive polls and quizzes in Stories, and the ability to add music to Stories.
