The android platform is no stranger to malware and has been the subject of many iOS-vs-android debates, but Google is taking steps to rectify the issue, even though they claim less than 0.18% of users have installed potentially harmful apps.
The update is an enhancement to the Verify Apps feature and it will allow the system to not only check for potential harms during installation, but also periodically monitor apps for any abnormal behaviour.
As usual, the best advice to avoid malware is to only install apps from legitimate developers and stay away from the copycats and shady apps.
