Meizu Pro 6 Plus & M3X

Meizu, the Chinese electronics company, took to Twitter to announce the Pro 6 Plus, the company’s latest flagship smartphone. The company also unveiled the M3X, another smartphone that isn’t as large as the Pro 6 Plus.

The Pro 6 Plus features a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 AMOLED display with the powerhouse being a Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset, the same unit that drives the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This is backed up by 4GB of RAM with up to 128GB of internal storage to store your files.

Other features include a fingerprint sensor, a heart-rate monitor, Hi-Fi audio, global LTE support (with the likely exception of the United States), USB Type-C connectivity and 3D Touch technology. Camera-wise, there’s a 12MP snapper on the back, which utilises the Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor that Meizu previously used in the MX6 smartphone. However, this time the camera module is paired with Samsung’s image signal processor and optical image stabilisation system.

When it comes to the battery, there’s a 3400mAh battery with fast charging that takes it to 60% in half an hour. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus utilises the Flyme OS 6, the newest version of the handset maker’s Android platform. Built on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it boasts a new artificial intelligence engine called “One Mind.” Another new software addition is an Always-on Display feature. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus costs about $435 (CNY 3000. The handset will be sold in Gray, Silver and Gold.

Meanwhile, the M3X features the same Sony IMX386 sensor for its 12MP camera. It’s not that much smaller with a 5.5” 1080p screen which, according to Meizu, covers 85% of the front face. The M3X is powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 chipset with 3GB or 4GB of RAM (with 32GB or 64GB of storage). The phone also runs Flyme 6.0 and has a 3,200mAh battery with fast mCharge (18W, matching Quick Charge 3.0). Furthermore, it also has a fingerprint reader and a USB Type-C port.
