A New Huawei-Made Nexus 7 Tablet Could Launch This Year

Nexus 7

The market for 7-inch tablets is over saturated and has been shortly after the launch of the Nexus 7. The 7-inch Nexus tablet was the ultimate portable, fit-in-your-pocket tablet and that’s mostly down to Huawei’s success with the 2012 Nexus 7.  It was cheap, durable and all right when it came to aesthetics. It was the middle of the middle and was just “right” for the majority of users. Its successor, the 2013 version of the Nexus 7 was similarly fantastic, bringing many notable improvements compared to its predecessor.

Unfortunately, the market for Android tablets has been a bit bare since, with Google’s attempt to reiterate the success of the Nexus 7 with other devices, such as the Nexus 9, failing. However, the rumour mill is once again churning and it appears that Huawei is actually already near the end of the development process of a new Google Tablet. According to Evan Blass, a reporter for VentureBeat, the new tablet will be 7-inches, feature 4GB of RAM, and is scheduled for an end of year release.

On its own, the verifiability of the tweet could be called into question but there are some other clues that point towards a 2016 edition of the Nexus 7. For instance, Huawei took out a trademark on “Nexus 7P” earlier this year and other rumours have been taking their rounds over the year. Google is expected to reveal the device at their October 4th event, where they will also reveal two new smartphones amongst other devices. It should be noted that the “Nexus” moniker may even be dropped as Google has been hinted at rebranding their new devices.
