Samsung might release two bendable smartphones next year

It seems that Samsung is taking its flexible approach to electronics to another level year next year. Sorry, I just had to fit that in there. Samsung Electronics is reportedly considering releasing two new smartphone models next year and the unorthodox thing about these phones is that they will feature bendable screens, including a version that folds in half like a cosmetic compact, according to Bloomberg. The other model will unfurl into a phablet-sized device.

Both devices will utilise organic light-emitting diodes which could be unveiled as soon as early 2017, sources said. This feature would place Samsung ahead of the curb in comparison to other leading smartphones out there, such as Apple’s iPhones. Codenamed “Project Valley,” Samsung could unveil one or both of the devices as soon as February when the Mobile World Congress takes place in Barcelona. This would give the company a head-start on Apple and the expected upcoming OLED iPhones.

Furthermore, the company may also name the next version of its Note device as the “Note 7,” skipping a number, so as to have it parallel with its flagship Galaxy S smartphone range. However, Samsung doesn’t plan to market the new bendable screen models under the Galaxy S name. As a result, it is likely that we’ll see Samsung market a new name for these products. Personally, I vote for Samsung Flex.
