Anker soundcore AeroClip 2 lands in UAE with a surprising AI trick

Clip-on open-ear earbuds have grown from an odd niche into a real category over the past couple of years. Bose and Huawei moved in early, and now Anker is bringing its second attempt to the UAE. The soundcore AeroClip 2 goes on sale on 29 October for AED 599. Its pitch rests less on sound quality than on two other things: clearer phone calls and live translation.

The design follows the familiar ear-cuff idea. A C-shaped bridge clips onto the outer ear, and the speaker sits just outside the ear canal instead of sealing it. That leaves you able to hear traffic, colleagues and announcements while you listen. Anker says it shaped the bridge using data from more than 2,000 ear scans. Each earbud weighs 6.2g, which puts it among the lighter designs in the category. Fit matters more here than with standard in-ears, because a clip that slips or pinches ruins the experience quickly.

Calls are where Anker is focusing its marketing. The earbuds use the company’s THUS AI chip, which processes audio on the device to separate the wearer’s voice from background noise. Anker also has Guinness World Records certification for the speech quality score (G-MOS) within the open-ear clip-on category. That sounds impressive, but the category is narrow and young, and the record says little about how the earbuds compare with in-ear models that have proper noise cancellation. Real-world call testing will matter far more than the certificate.

Translation is the more interesting feature, especially in a country as multilingual as the UAE. Through the soundcore app, the AeroClip 2 supports two-way, real-time translation in more than 100 languages. Because it runs through the app, it depends on your phone, and probably on a data connection, though Anker hasn’t spelled that out. Accuracy and delay are also unknown until people use it in a busy souk or taxi.

Audio comes from 12mm dual-magnet drivers with LDAC support for high-resolution Bluetooth on compatible Android phones. The app adds HearID 5.0 sound personalisation and 3D spatial audio. On the Apple side, the earbuds are MFi-certified, and they can stay connected to two devices at once, such as a phone and a laptop. Open-ear designs leak sound and struggle with bass, so expect the usual trade-offs whatever the driver size.

Anker rates battery life at eight hours per charge and 32 hours with the case. A 10-minute charge adds about four hours. IP57 dust and water resistance and physical buttons, instead of touch controls, round out a practical spec sheet. The earbuds will be sold through Anker’s own store, Amazon, noon and other major retailers, with launch-period bundles worth up to AED 517.

At AED 599, the AeroClip 2 is priced to undercut the premium open-ear options. The open question is whether translation becomes a feature people use every day or a demo they try once and forget.
