Apple’s iOS 27.2 release candidate brings Siri AI to five languages

Apple’s next major iPhone update is nearly ready. The company has released the iOS 27.2 release candidate to developers, along with a matching iPadOS 27.2 build, a week after the fourth beta. Release candidate builds are usually the version Apple plans to ship unless a late bug forces another round, so a public release now looks close.

The timing is not much of a mystery. Apple previously committed to bringing Siri AI to more languages in October, and iOS 27.2 is the update carrying that expansion. With the month nearly over, a public release next week would let Apple meet that commitment.

The language support is the key change. Siri AI is set to add French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, which brings Apple’s revamped assistant to a much larger share of iPhone owners. Language availability has been one of Apple’s slower areas in AI, and limited support has meant many users either had no access or had to set their phone to a language they do not normally use. This update will not fix every gap, but it covers several large markets in Europe, Latin America and East Asia.

One feature is notably absent. Earlier iOS 27.2 betas were used to test a reworked Health app, but Apple has removed those features from this build and says they will arrive in a later update. Apple has not said what caused the delay. It does suggest the Health redesign needed more work than one point release allowed.

The rest of the update is smaller but still useful. The Apple TV app gains user profiles, which should help households sharing one device keep viewing histories and recommendations separate. Call Context can now show anniversary alerts. Apple Music gets a new icon. In the European Union, Apple is also adding support for an alternative, expanded version of the App Tracking Transparency prompt, likely another sign of Apple adjusting iOS to meet European regulatory pressure.

Developers can install the build now by enrolling in the iOS 27 developer beta through the Software Update section of Settings. Everyone else should not have to wait long. The bigger question is the Health app: whether Apple ships it in another point release before the year ends, or keeps it back for a larger update in 2027.
