A recent study by Google’s security team has found a dozen security threats in Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge software.

Google’s Project Zero team revealed 11 “high-impact security issues” that renders the Galaxy S6 Edge vulnerable to hackers. Google said ti has already informed Samsung and most of the bugs have been fixed.

The majority of these issues were fixed on the device we tested via an over-the-air update within 90 days, though three lower-severity issues remain unfixed. It is promising that the highest severity issues were fixed and updated on-device in a reasonable timeframe, said Natalie Silvanovich from Project Zero.

One of the bug was within Samsung’s email software which could allow hackers to forward a user’s messages to their own account. Another allowed hackers to change the settings of Samsung’s photo-viewing app.

Samsung also said that it had addressed the security flaws in its new monthly security updates program.

In our first security update, we were able to provide solutions to eight of the more critical issues that were brought to our attention by Google as part of their 90-day reporting policy. The remaining three issues will be included as part of our November security update which will be rolling out over the next couple of weeks, said a Samsung spokesperson.
