Sony just refreshed three popular headphones for UAE buyers

Sony is giving its wireless headphone line-up a substantial refresh in the UAE, but the most interesting addition isn’t an entirely new flagship. Instead, the company is bringing back one of its best-known premium designs in a revised form, while updating its more affordable CH series with longer battery life and new features.

The WH-1000XM4C leads the September 2026 launch alongside the mid-range WH-CH730N and entry-level WH-CH530. All three are scheduled to arrive in the UAE this month, although Sony has yet to announce local pricing.

Rather than replacing the newer WH-1000XM6, the WH-1000XM4C is based on the older WH-1000XM4. That makes this an unusual addition to Sony’s premium range: a refreshed version of a previous-generation favourite rather than another step forward in the flagship series.

Sony has updated the XM4C’s sound tuning and added a 10-band equaliser for more detailed personalisation. The familiar foldable over-ear design and 1000X-series noise cancellation remain, with Black and Platinum Silver joined by a new Lavender finish.

The strategy could make sense if Sony positions the WH-1000XM4C appropriately. The original XM4 earned a strong reputation for balancing noise cancellation, comfort and portability, and its folding design remains useful for travellers. With the WH-1000XM6 occupying newer flagship territory, the XM4C potentially gives Sony another premium option without abandoning a design that still has an audience. The unanswered question is price, which will determine how compelling that proposition actually is.

Further down the range, the WH-CH730N introduces more obvious practical upgrades. Sony says its Dual Noise Sensor system provides active noise cancellation, while battery life reaches up to 50 hours with noise cancellation enabled. A three-minute charge can provide around one hour of playback.

The CH730N also gains a lightweight foldable design and upgraded voice pickup using beamforming microphones and AI-assisted noise reduction. Multipoint connectivity, LE Audio, Fast Pair and Swift Pair are supported. Colour choices include Black, White, Pink, Blue and Beige.

Sony’s WH-CH530 targets buyers who prioritise battery life and price over active noise cancellation. The compact on-ear headphones offer up to 55 hours of playback, with a three-minute quick charge providing a claimed 1.5 hours of listening. They also include customisable EQ, Multipoint, LE Audio compatibility and AI-based noise reduction for calls.

An adjustable five-step maximum-volume control is another notable addition, particularly for younger listeners or anyone wanting tighter control over listening levels. Sony is also leaning heavily into colour here, offering Black, White and Pink alongside Cobalt, Coral and Mint.
