ASUS is bringing the ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 to the GCC, and this one clearly wants to be the laptop that survives everything from Monday morning lectures to the inevitable 11:57pm assignment submission.
Designed with students in mind, the ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 uses a 360-degree hinge that lets it transform between conventional laptop, tablet, tent and display modes. That flexibility should come in handy for switching between typing essays, watching presentations, taking handwritten notes and convincing classmates that, yes, you definitely contributed to the group project.
There’s an optional touchscreen and garaged stylus too, making the convertible format more useful for sketching diagrams and annotating notes rather than simply serving as a neat party trick.
Inside, ASUS offers configurations with up to an Intel Core 7 Series 3 processor featuring a 17 TOPS neural processing unit, alongside Intel Graphics. The NPU provides dedicated acceleration for supported AI workloads, although the actual benefit students see will depend heavily on the applications they use. “AI-powered” is rapidly becoming mandatory vocabulary for new laptops, but dedicated hardware should at least help compatible tasks run locally without leaning entirely on cloud processing.
Portability looks like another priority. The ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 weighs 1.34kg and measures 14.9mm thick, wrapped in an aluminium chassis finished in Gentle Gray. Its 14-inch, 16:10 NanoEdge display reaches a claimed 400 nits of brightness and an 84% screen-to-body ratio, with TÜV Rheinland-certified eye-care technology intended to make lengthy study sessions more comfortable.
And because student laptops occasionally encounter circumstances their engineers probably wish they didn’t, ASUS has added some extra protection. The machine meets MIL-STD 810H durability standards and includes a spill-resistant keyboard, reinforced hinges and strengthened I/O ports. That doesn’t mean you should intentionally introduce your laptop to a caramel iced latte, but accidents happen.
Connectivity is pleasingly practical rather than minimalist. There are two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A connections, HDMI 2.1 and a combined headphone and microphone jack. In other words, your collection of dongles may finally get a day off.
Security features include a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button and a physical webcam shutter, alongside additional enterprise-focused protection. ASUS also says recycled materials are used in the machine as part of its sustainability efforts.
The ExpertBook B5 Flip G2 ultimately looks less interested in being an extravagant student status symbol and more focused on flexibility, portability and durability. ASUS has not announced GCC pricing or detailed regional configurations, however, and those numbers will determine whether this versatile classroom companion actually makes sense for student budgets.
