Brainrot Royale brings Steal a Brainrot gameplay into PUBG MOBILE

PUBG MOBILE is leaning further into user-generated content with Brainrot Royale, a new World of Wonder experience developed in collaboration with Do Big Studios. Available since August 7, the mode brings the viral Brainrot IP into PUBG MOBILE for the first time, while also showing how the game’s creator platform is beginning to attract established UGC studios alongside individual creators.

Brainrot Royale borrows the collecting and competitive ideas behind Steal a Brainrot and adapts them around PUBG MOBILE’s shooting mechanics. Players hunt licensed Brainrot characters such as Ballerina Cappuccina, Lirilì Larilà, Brr Brr Patapim and Bombino Sheriffo, then attempt to return them safely to their base. Successfully collected characters generate coins, which can be spent on weapons, items and upgrades.

The concept becomes more competitive once other players enter the equation. Bases can be raided, giving opponents an opportunity to steal collected Brainrot while forcing players to think about defence as well as progression. A rebirth system provides access to stronger equipment and additional upgrades, while Beach Party eggs offer random rewards. Boss encounters add another variable, combining disruptive attacks with the prospect of more valuable prizes.

None of those systems radically reinvent multiplayer progression, but their combination makes sense for the deliberately chaotic Brainrot format. More importantly for PUBG MOBILE, Brainrot Royale illustrates how World of Wonder is expanding beyond straightforward community-made maps into experiences built around recognisable internet properties and more elaborate progression systems.

World of Wonder has become a significant part of PUBG MOBILE since its introduction as the game’s creation platform. Tencent says more than 5.4 million maps have now been produced through WOW, with peak daily participation exceeding 8.5 million players. Those figures are company-provided, but they help explain why PUBG MOBILE is putting more emphasis on creator-made experiences.

Do Big Studios is an especially relevant partner for that strategy. Founded in 2020, the Florida-based studio specialises in games built for user-generated content platforms, particularly Roblox. Its portfolio is associated with viral titles including Steal a Brainrot, Grow a Garden, Fisch and Blade Ball. Bringing that experience into PUBG MOBILE gives Tencent another way to test whether gameplay concepts popular on Roblox can translate to its much larger battle royale ecosystem.

That crossover reflects a broader shift across multiplayer games. Platforms including Roblox and Fortnite have demonstrated that creator-built experiences can keep audiences engaged far beyond a game’s original modes. PUBG MOBILE’s World of Wonder is pursuing a similar model, where the underlying game increasingly becomes a platform for other types of experiences rather than simply a single battle royale.

Brainrot Royale is therefore less interesting as a one-off crossover than as another indication of where World of Wonder may be heading. If professional UGC studios continue joining PUBG MOBILE’s creator ecosystem, the distinction between community maps, licensed collaborations and standalone games inside WOW could become increasingly difficult to draw.
