OpenAI appears to be preparing a more streamlined way for ChatGPT users to create and share custom WhatsApp stickers, potentially removing several manual steps that have made the process cumbersome.
Evidence discovered in the latest Android version of the ChatGPT app suggests the company is developing a dedicated “ChatGPT Stickers” feature with built-in support for exporting sticker packs directly to WhatsApp. Although the functionality has not been released, the findings indicate that OpenAI is exploring tighter integration between its image-generation tools and one of the world’s most widely used messaging platforms.
At present, creating stickers with ChatGPT is possible but far from seamless. Users typically generate images through prompts, download each file, crop or edit them if necessary, and then rely on third-party tools or WhatsApp’s import process to build a sticker pack. A native export option would significantly simplify that workflow, making AI-generated stickers accessible with just a few taps.
The unreleased feature was uncovered during an examination of ChatGPT version 1.2026.216 for Android. Code references point to options such as “Add to WhatsApp,” “Add to chat apps,” and “Download stickers,” along with error messages related to transferring sticker packs. These strings suggest OpenAI is designing an interface specifically for packaging AI-generated stickers instead of treating them as ordinary image downloads.
The code also indicates that users will need to create at least three stickers before exporting them to WhatsApp. That requirement is consistent with WhatsApp’s existing developer guidelines, which specify that sticker packs must include a minimum of three stickers and no more than 30. Rather than imposing a new limitation, ChatGPT appears to be adhering to WhatsApp’s established format.
Further supporting the discovery is the presence of the Android intent com.whatsapp.intent.action.ENABLE_STICKER_PACK, a system action that allows third-party apps to hand sticker packs directly to WhatsApp. Its inclusion suggests OpenAI is building native compatibility instead of relying on indirect workarounds.
While the current implementation appears focused on WhatsApp, references to adding stickers to “chat apps” hint that broader messaging platform support could eventually follow. However, there is no confirmation that integrations with other services are in development, and the available evidence does not reveal which platforms, if any, could be supported later.
As with any APK teardown, these findings reflect features still under development rather than confirmed product announcements. Code discovered inside an application often provides an early look at what developers are testing, but planned functionality can change substantially or be abandoned before reaching users.
If the feature does launch, it would represent another step in OpenAI’s effort to move ChatGPT beyond a conversational assistant by embedding AI-generated content directly into everyday messaging workflows. For users who frequently personalize their chats with custom stickers, eliminating the current manual process could prove just as valuable as improvements to the image generation itself.
