Ultrahuman Emerald update brings clearer insights to ring tracking

Ultrahuman has released Emerald, the most substantial platform update yet for its health tracking app and smart rings. Rolling out globally from 23 July 2026, the update centers on a redesigned interface that prioritizes clearer data presentation and more practical guidance over raw metrics alone. Light and dark modes are available, with the Ring tab now emphasizing timely, contextual information. Jade AI receives its own dedicated space for recommendations that attempt to link sleep, movement, recovery, continuous glucose data, and blood markers.

At the heart of the home screen sits UltraSphere, described as a decision engine that generates more than sixty suggested next actions. These prompts draw on sleep, recovery, heart-rate variability, skin temperature, cycle phase, movement, stress, and glucose readings where available. Suggestions take location, weather, and circadian rhythm into account and adjust for profiles such as athletes, new parents, shift workers, or frequent travelers. Examples range from seeking morning light to time caffeine intake or dim screens after sunset. The company frames this as answering the persistent “so what” question that follows most wearable data.

Processing now runs on the ring itself, keeping live metrics, recovery scores, and stress indicators available without a network connection. Workout tracking for both Ring PRO and Ring AIR has been rebuilt with automatic detection and tagging improvements. New heart-rate algorithms were tested against reference devices across varied users and activities. Users can also feed workout data from third-party devices, including Apple Watch, Garmin, WHOOP, chest straps, and certain AirPods, into the Ultrahuman app.

VO₂ Max estimation received particular attention. The updated algorithm claims a 21 percent accuracy gain and was checked against laboratory cardiopulmonary exercise testing in a study of more than one hundred participants. Results reportedly fell within five milliliters per kilogram per minute of lab values. This stands in contrast to many consumer devices that rely more heavily on population averages and can overstate scores for less fit users. VO₂ Max remains one of the stronger predictors of long-term healthspan, so greater precision matters, though independent validation beyond the company’s own study will still be useful.

Additional refinements include a consolidated Sleep Screener that gathers respiratory signals, atrial fibrillation detection where permitted, temperature, and a smart alarm into a single nightly view. A Longevity tab groups longer-term markers such as UltraAge and Pulse Age away from daily noise, with the option to import a lab VO₂ Max result. Sharing options now extend to cycle and ovulation data for those who choose it. Other elements cover daily activity summaries, live heart-rate views during movement, time-window visualizations for caffeine and light exposure, and a simplified library of modular features.

Wearable health platforms have spent years accumulating metrics. The harder problem has always been turning those numbers into reliable, context-aware guidance without overpromising. Emerald represents Ultrahuman’s clearest attempt so far to move further in that direction, though the quality of the advice will depend on the underlying models and how well they adapt to individual physiology over time. The update is free for existing users.
