EA Sports expands FC Pro Mobile esports with MENA regional qualifier

EA Sports is expanding its competitive mobile football ecosystem with the launch of the EA Sports FC Pro Mobile MEA Qualifier, a regional tournament designed to give players across the Middle East and North Africa a direct route into the wider FC Pro Mobile esports circuit. While mobile esports has grown steadily over the past decade, dedicated pathways for players in the region have often been limited. This latest competition reflects the industry’s broader effort to build structured qualification systems that extend beyond traditional console gaming.

Registration for the online qualifier opens on July 7, with tournament matches scheduled for July 11 and 12 through the Battlefy platform. The event will accommodate up to 2,048 competitors divided into two 1,024-player single-elimination brackets. Every match will be played as a best-of-three series, and the winner from each bracket will secure a place in the FC Pro Mobile Mid-Season Playoffs later this summer.

The qualifier forms part of the newly introduced EA Sports FC Pro Mobile circuit, which brings the publisher’s established FC Pro esports format to mobile devices. Rather than relying on isolated competitions, the new structure introduces regional, global, and partner-supported tournaments that feed into larger international events. The circuit carries a combined prize pool of $350,000, with $100,000 allocated to the Mid-Season Playoffs and $250,000 reserved for the inaugural FC Pro Mobile World Championship scheduled for October 2026.

The Middle East and North Africa has become an increasingly important market for competitive gaming, supported by rising smartphone adoption, improving mobile internet infrastructure, and growing investment in esports across several countries. Regional tournaments such as this provide local players with opportunities to compete internationally without first transitioning to PC or console platforms, reflecting the changing landscape of competitive gaming where mobile titles continue to attract large audiences.

Following the regional qualifiers, successful players will advance to the Mid-Season Playoffs, where 24 competitors from qualifying events around the world will compete through group-stage matches before entering a single-elimination bracket. Performance there will determine who progresses to the final phase of the season.

EA Sports also plans to expand the circuit through partnerships with publishers including Nexon, Tencent, and Garena in parts of Asia. These collaborations are intended to support localized competitions, regional broadcasts, and tournament infrastructure in markets where EA Sports FC Mobile already maintains an established player base.

The publisher has also outlined plans to work with football leagues and federations, allowing players in participating countries to compete under the branding of their favourite clubs and national teams across both console and mobile competitions. Further details on those partnerships are expected at a later date.

The introduction of FC Pro Mobile follows several years of increasing interest in mobile football esports. Previous events, including regional FC Pro competitions in Asia, attracted significant online audiences, highlighting the growing appeal of smartphone-based competitive gaming. Whether this new global structure can sustain long-term participation remains to be seen, but the addition of dedicated regional qualification routes suggests publishers are placing greater emphasis on making international competition more accessible to mobile players across a wider range of markets.
