Adidas has unveiled the Treadflow, a running shoe made specifically for treadmill running—yes, a shoe for people who prefer to run without ever leaving the same spot. While most trainers are engineered for pounding sidewalks or racing around tracks, the Treadflow embraces the “hamster wheel” reality of gym life with features designed for the climate-controlled indoors.
The star of the design is Adidas’ Climacool upper, essentially a built-in ventilation system for your feet. With breathable mesh and strategically placed cut-outs, it’s meant to keep air moving in and out of the shoe like a tiny HVAC unit. If you’ve ever cursed the lack of airflow in a crowded gym, this is Adidas’ attempt to stop your socks from doubling as steamers.
Underfoot, the Treadflow combines Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro foams, materials usually reserved for Adidas’ fastest racing shoes. But since treadmills already have a bouncy belt of their own, the cushioning here has been dialed back. The result is a snappy, stripped-down feel that encourages quicker transitions—perfect if you’re trying to convince yourself your 30-minute jog is actually interval training.
The outsole uses Lighttraxion rubber to grip treadmill belts without weighing things down, because apparently “falling off the treadmill mid-run” isn’t the kind of viral moment Adidas wants associated with its new shoe. At just 220 grams with a 10mm drop, the Treadflow keeps things light, speedy, and strictly indoors.
Set to launch September 1, 2025, in gender-specific colorways, the Treadflow will be priced at $130. Early listings are already popping up on Adidas’ website for those who can’t wait to kit out their treadmill miles.
