Meta launches Xbox-branded Quest 3S with cloud gaming support

Meta has introduced a new version of its Quest 3S headset, developed in collaboration with Xbox. This limited-edition model features a design inspired by Xbox’s signature Carbon Black and Velocity Green color scheme and includes a bundle of accessories: the Quest 3S headset, Touch Plus controllers, an Elite Strap, and a pre-paired Xbox Wireless Controller. Priced at $399.99, the package is available starting today for a limited time.

This release represents Meta’s first limited-edition Quest headset, building on its ongoing partnership with Xbox. The companies have previously worked together to bring the Xbox app to Quest in 2023, offering access to Xbox Cloud Gaming through Game Pass Ultimate. That service, still evolving, allows users to stream a growing catalog of over 100 games directly to the headset.

Bundled with the Quest 3S Xbox Edition are three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and three months of Meta Horizon+, giving new users immediate access to a range of cloud-streamed and virtual reality content. Game Pass titles currently supported via cloud streaming include recent and upcoming games such as South of Midnight, Avowed, and the remastered Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The headset is compatible with both Meta’s Touch Plus controllers and Xbox controllers, with the included Xbox controller already set up for immediate use. This approach offers flexibility for users who want to switch between traditional gaming inputs and VR-specific controls.

The move underscores Meta’s continued push to blend traditional console gaming with its VR ecosystem, while Xbox gains another avenue to promote its subscription service and game library. For consumers interested in exploring cloud gaming on a standalone VR device, the Quest 3S Xbox Edition offers a relatively accessible entry point, though it’s framed more as a limited-time bundle than a long-term hardware shift.
