Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Ironheart, the upcoming Disney+ series centered on Riri Williams, the young inventor introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The show is scheduled to premiere on June 24 with a three-episode launch, followed by weekly installments concluding the six-episode run.
Ironheart follows Riri Williams, portrayed by Dominique Thorne, a teenage prodigy who designs a suit of advanced armor rivaling Iron Man’s. The series picks up after her introduction in Wakanda Forever, positioning her as the spiritual successor to Tony Stark while carving out her own identity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Though the comics featured an AI version of Stark as her mentor, the trailer offers no hint of Robert Downey Jr.’s return in any form.
The trailer introduces Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood, as the show’s primary antagonist. Played by Anthony Ramos, The Hood blends street-level criminality with magical abilities, making for an unusual tech-versus-mysticism conflict that sets Ironheart apart from Marvel’s more traditional superhero fare. His ties to darker corners of the Marvel universe—including a loose connection to Dormammu from Doctor Strange—hint at deeper crossovers and a possibly more supernatural tone than expected.
Executive produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, the series looks to blend grounded character development with larger MCU ambitions. Chinaka Hodge serves as head writer, bringing prior experience from Snowpiercer and The Midnight Club to the project.
In addition to Thorne and Ramos, the cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, and Anji White. The release of Ironheart will be followed by Eyes of Wakanda, an animated anthology set to debut on August 6, expanding the broader Wakandan storyline within the MCU.
With its mix of emerging characters, technological ingenuity, and magical threats, Ironheart could mark a tonal shift for Marvel’s Disney+ offerings as the studio looks to reorient its streaming content following uneven critical and fan reception to its recent releases.
