Meta to launch standalone app for its AI chatbot

Meta is reportedly developing a standalone app for its AI chatbot, aiming to expand its reach beyond its existing social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The app is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year, joining a growing market of dedicated AI chatbot apps that includes ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot.

Meta’s AI chatbot is already integrated into its various social media platforms, offering features such as answering questions, generating images, editing photos, and providing personalized recommendations. By launching a standalone app, Meta could attract users who may not be active on its social media platforms, further expanding the chatbot’s user base.

This move aligns with Meta’s increased investment in AI technology. CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced plans to allocate up to $65 billion to advance the company’s AI initiatives, and Meta is also planning an AI-focused event on April 29th.

The development of a dedicated AI chatbot app highlights Meta’s ambition to compete in the rapidly evolving AI landscape and diversify its offerings beyond social media.
