Waze simplifies CarPlay navigation with new home/work shortcuts

Waze has rolled out an update for its Apple CarPlay integration that streamlines navigation, particularly for frequent destinations like home and work. The update introduces new shortcut buttons directly on the main interface, providing quicker access to these frequently used locations.

The updated CarPlay interface now features dedicated buttons for navigating to home and work, positioned above the search shortcut. These buttons are prominently displayed alongside other essential options like incident reporting and the speedometer. This change simplifies navigation by removing the need to navigate through menus to initiate these common routes.

Previously, as noted by some, the home and work navigation shortcut was located in the auto-hiding bar at the top of the Waze CarPlay screen. Relocating it to the main screen makes it considerably more accessible, a definite plus for drivers. The functionality of the search feature itself remains unchanged.

The new shortcut buttons disappear once navigation is active, with the search button returning to its previous position in the top bar. This dynamic interface ensures that relevant options are always readily available without cluttering the screen during navigation.

Users who frequently use Waze on CarPlay should now see this updated interface. This change represents a welcome improvement, making it easier and safer to start navigation to common destinations while driving.
