Oppo has announced the global launch date for its highly anticipated next-generation foldable phone, the Find N5. The device will be officially unveiled on February 20th. A teaser video released by Oppo highlights the foldable’s slim profile and confirms the inclusion of Google’s Gemini, suggesting AI-powered features.

This marks the first time Oppo has released a foldable device globally simultaneously with its China launch. While it’s unlikely to be released under the Oppo brand in the US, it is expected to arrive later as the OnePlus Open 2.

The Find N5, also known as the OnePlus Open 2, is touted as the world’s thinnest foldable, measuring less than 4mm when unfolded. Oppo has emphasized its thinness, even comparing it favorably to the iPad Pro M4 and iPhones. It’s reportedly nearly as thin as a USB-C port.

Despite its slim design, the Find N5 boasts a rumored 5900 mAh battery, a significant increase from its predecessor. It will also feature 50W fast wireless charging, a notable advantage over competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel Fold.

The device is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and feature a significantly upgraded camera system. Rumors suggest a triple 50MP rear camera array and a telephoto macro lens, a feature not commonly found in flagship phones. The front cameras are expected to be 32MP and 20MP.

Additionally, the Find N5 is rumored to have IPX8 and IPX9 ratings, making it the first foldable capable of withstanding high-pressure and high-temperature water jets. This represents a substantial improvement in durability for foldable devices. The launch event is just around the corner, so more details are expected soon.
