Netflix hikes prices following strong earnings and subscriber growth

Netflix has announced price increases across its streaming plans, coming on the heels of a strong earnings report that showed significant revenue and subscriber growth. The price hikes affect all tiers of service, with the standard ad-free plan seeing the largest percentage increase.

New Pricing Structure:

  • Standard (No Ads): Increased from $15.49 to $17.99 per month.
  • Standard (With Ads): Increased from $6.99 to $7.99 per month.
  • Premium (4K): Increased from $22.99 to $24.99 per month.

Netflix’s decision to raise prices comes as the company reported exceeding $10 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time. The streaming giant also saw a significant increase in global subscribers, reaching 302 million. The countries affected by this hike are the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.

Popular content, including the second season of “Squid Game” and the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight, contributed to the platform’s success in attracting and retaining subscribers.

Netflix has raised its revenue guidance for 2025, projecting a range between $43.5 billion and $44.5 billion. The company anticipates continued growth, fueled in part by the price increases and the return of popular shows like “Squid Game,” “Wednesday,” and “Stranger Things.”

Netflix stated that the price adjustments will allow the company to reinvest in programming and deliver more value to its members. The streaming landscape remains competitive, and Netflix aims to maintain its leading position by continuing to offer a diverse and compelling content library.
