Doozie’s Doghouse, Elmo, and more: Netflix’s cutest new shows for little ones

Kids’ content has become a big deal for Netflix, and the company is now backing that up with numbers and new shows. Children’s and family viewing made up 15% of all hours watched on the platform in the first half of 2026, and the category has passed 106 billion hours since the start of 2023. Netflix’s answer is to double down on franchises that already work.

Gabby’s Dollhouse is the biggest example. Netflix says seasons 1 to 13 have racked up more than 670 million views since 2024, and the franchise is now getting spin-offs. Doozie’s Doghouse, a mixed-media series centred on Gabby’s sister, premieres November 9. On December 9, Gabby’s Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers arrives with four holiday-themed episodes. Laila Lockhart Kraner hosts as Gabby while young duos take on crafting and baking challenges, judged by Aidy Bryant, Justin Willman and Melissa Villaseñor. More episodes are due in 2027. Turning one hit preschool show into a franchise is a familiar move, and the real test is whether the spin-offs keep the charm or just fill the catalogue.

Sesame Street is also expanding its presence on the service. Netflix has extended its deal with Sesame Workshop to cover new seasons through season 62. Season 57 Volume 4 lands November 23, with Volumes 5 and 6 following in 2027. A Sesame Street feature film is in development with Rideback, and the CGI series Mecha Builders arrives October 26. For a show once closely associated with public broadcasting, having a streaming giant commit this far ahead shows how much the economics of children’s TV have changed.

There are new titles as well. Puppy Pirates, from creator Matthew Fernandes, follows four dogs sailing the seas to retrieve lost items, though no release date has been confirmed. Bad Dinosaurs has been renewed for two more eight-episode seasons after a debut run that Netflix says spent five weeks in its Global Top 10 and drew nearly 55 million views.

Gaming is part of the plan too. Netflix Playground, a kids’ game app for ages 8 and under included with every membership, gets Numberblocks: Hide and Seek and KPop Demon Hunters: Ready, Set Shine on September 29. A Trash Truck game follows on October 27, and a Danny Go! title is also on the way. There are no ads or in-app purchases, and games work offline, which is a clear advantage over the ad-heavy kids’ games that fill app stores.

The most parent-friendly addition might be the simplest one. A new low-stimulation collection gathers slower-paced, visually calmer shows such as Trash Truck, Puffin Rock and Llama Llama, which reflects growing concern about how intense many children’s shows have become. Whether Netflix treats that as a lasting priority or just a curated shelf will say a lot about its approach to young viewers.
