For cameras, the iPhone Duo features a 48MP Fusion main camera with 2x optical-quality telephoto, without the need for a dedicated telephoto lens, plus a 48MP Ultra Wide camera. It can also record video at up to 4K 120fps. And because the Duo can stand on its own when partially folded, it opens up new ways to shoot photos and video hands-free without needing a tripod.
The iPhone Duo uses a dual-battery system, with both batteries working together as one to deliver all-day battery life. Apple rates it for up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display. Fast charging can take the battery to 50% in just 20 minutes, while a quick five-minute charge provides up to five hours of video playback.
The iPhone Duo combines the A20 Pro with Apple’s new C2 modem, with both chips optimized to improve everyday performance and connectivity. Apple is using AI algorithms to improve cellular reliability, including faster reconnection in low-coverage areas. Compared with C1X, C2 is up to 50% faster, uses up to 15% less battery and adds 5G mmWave support in the US.
And powering it all is Apple’s A20 Pro chip, bringing its latest performance and on-device AI capabilities to the iPhone Duo.
The iPhone Duo’s display also features a custom nano-texture finish designed to minimize glare, reflections and the visibility of the crease. Apple says it’s produced using maskless laser lithography, with every microlens precisely created pixel by pixel. The nano-texture layer is combined with a custom structural system and multi-layer lamination design to deliver a smoother, more seamless viewing experience.
You can even use the iPhone Duo partially folded!
The iPhone Duo also gets a redesigned Lock Screen that puts more focus on your wallpaper, with controls positioned along the side. Apple’s apps have been optimized for the new form factor, and multitasking lets you place one app on each side of the display or even open two windows of the same app — like having two Safari windows side by side for comparison shopping. You can also pair two apps together by tapping the divider, making it easy to jump straight back into the same multitasking setup later.

The iPhone Duo can also be unlocked using your Apple Watch and features speakers at both the top and bottom for a more immersive audio experience. It comes in two finishes, Star White and Night Sky. For durability, Apple has built it around a rigid frame with additional support ribs, while the antenna splits are reinforced with high-performance ceramic inserts. Ceramic Shield protects the back, with the newer Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, and the entire device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The iPhone Duo features a massive 7.6-inch inner display, which Apple says is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with a 5.4-inch outer display. Apple Pencil with USB-C is supported on both screens, with support coming later this year. Touch ID is also built directly into the side button for quick and easy authentication.

Apple says iOS is now more flexible than ever, dynamically responding as you fold the device, reorienting when you turn it on its side, and seamlessly moving content to the appropriate display when you flip it over.

Apple Watch Series 12 comes in several new finishes. The aluminum models are available in Space Gray, Black, Light Gold and a new Dark Bronze, and now feature Ceramic Shield 2 for added durability. Titanium options include Radiant Gold and Natural, while Apple is also offering ceramic cases in Ceramic Pearl White and Night Blue.
Apple is also introducing a new bronze colour for the Apple Watch, giving the lineup a fresh new finish.
Apple Watch is getting a new Apple Intelligence feature called Audio Intelligence, designed to make sense of the sounds around you. It runs privately and securely right on your wrist and can recognize important sounds such as sirens, alarms and doorbells. Audio Intelligence also integrates with Shazam, allowing Apple Watch to recognize music playing around you.
Apple Watch is also getting a new feature called Live Rewind, which can capture and transcribe what’s being said around you. Apple says it essentially lets you “go back in time” by up to 15 seconds, so if you miss something that was just said, you can quickly go back and catch it.

Apple is putting an even bigger focus on heart health and fitness tracking. The updated Heart Rate app now surfaces high-frequency heart rate data, with new watch face complications making that information easier to see at a glance. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is also being added to the Vitals app, giving users another way to track their overall fitness and physiological state.

AirPods 5 are shaping up to be a pretty solid upgrade, especially considering the quick turnaround. The $129 model now includes ANC, which Apple says is 50% better than before. There’s also a higher-end $149 model that adds volume controls, improved battery life and a wireless charging case — while still coming in cheaper than the previous ANC model.
Apple says AirPods 5 deliver the industry’s best Active Noise Cancellation in an open-ear design. Transparency mode lets you stay connected to the sounds around you, while Adaptive Audio intelligently moves between ANC and Transparency based on your surroundings. AirPods 5 also work as a seamless extension of Siri and Apple Intelligence on your iPhone.

Apple is also introducing Reference Image, designed to securely protect photo data while allowing supported AI features to work with your images.
The iPhone 18 Pro is also getting Focus Tracking directly in the Camera app, allowing you to lock onto a subject and keep it in focus as it moves through the frame.
The Camera app is also getting new Pro Controls, giving you much more manual control over your shots. You can adjust the aperture with four different options, change the shutter speed to capture shots that weren’t possible before on an iPhone, fine-tune the white balance, and even view a live histogram.
Apple is also adding more flexibility to video on the iPhone 18 Pro. You can now apply Cinematic mode effects to regular video after you’ve captured it, while 60fps recording gives you the option for smooth half-speed playback. There’s also 4K time-lapse in Dolby Vision HDR, plus an upgraded Audio Mix that now supports music and uses new algorithms for higher-quality audio recording.
Apple: “To create variable aperture, we developed a system of six laser-cut blades, each thinner than a human hair. The blades are made of a specialized polymer composite for the right balance of mass flexibility and durability. The aperture adjusts automatically based on the scene. When you’re in a darker environment, the aperture opens to let in around 50% more light.”

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro Max delivers the biggest increase in battery life ever seen on an iPhone.
The iPhone 18 Pro features a next-generation vapor chamber with three times the surface area of the one in the iPhone 17 Pro. Deionized water continuously cycles through the chamber to improve heat dissipation, allowing for significantly better sustained performance. According to Apple, the new thermal system delivers twice the performance compared to the iPhone 16 Pro and earlier models.
The A20 Pro features a 32-core Neural Engine with twice the compute power, with Apple calling it the ultimate chip for running on-device AI models. Memory bandwidth is up 50%, backed by the widest memory interface ever shipped in an iPhone. Apple has also redesigned the internal layout, placing the silicon die side-by-side with the memory and connecting it directly to the vapor chamber for significantly improved thermal performance. Apple says effective thermal management is critical, as efficient heat dissipation allows the A20 Pro to deliver its maximum performance.

September means new iPhones, but Apple’s 2026 event could be a little different.
Apple’s next major keynote takes place on Wednesday, September 9 at 9:00 PM UAE time, and Absolute Geeks will be covering the entire event right here.
We’re expecting the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, new Apple Watches and AirPods, but the device that could steal the show is Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
Once the keynote starts, this page will be updated with the important stuff: what Apple actually announces, the confirmed specifications, UAE prices and when you’ll be able to buy everything.
September 9 could be a very different iPhone launch
The biggest change this year might be what Apple doesn’t announce.
Instead of launching the usual four-model iPhone family together, reports suggest Apple is splitting the iPhone 18 generation across two launch windows.
That could leave September focused on Apple’s most expensive hardware, led by the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the company’s first foldable iPhone, while the regular iPhone 18 and other models arrive in 2027.
And yes, the foldable is the one we’re particularly interested in seeing.
Years of rumours have pointed towards Apple developing a book-style folding iPhone with a large inner display. Recent reports suggest a screen somewhere around 7.6 to 7.8 inches, a premium titanium construction and a price comfortably above $2,000.
Whether Apple gives it an entirely new name, makes it part of the existing iPhone family or limits its initial availability to selected markets remains to be seen.
For UAE buyers, we’ll be watching closely for one thing in particular: does the foldable actually launch here?
What else should we expect?
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to look familiar on the outside while receiving some significant upgrades underneath.
Rumoured hardware includes Apple’s A20 Pro processor, built using a 2nm process, alongside a new C2 modem and further camera improvements. A variable-aperture main camera has been among the more interesting leaks, while Apple could also make the Dynamic Island noticeably smaller.
A new Dark Cherry finish has also been rumoured.
Beyond the iPhone, expect Apple’s wearable lineup to get its annual refresh. The Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are both tipped for the event, while AirPods 5 could join them with standard and noise-cancelling variants.
There may, of course, be a few surprises. That’s what live events are for.
A new face at the top
This keynote could also represent the beginning of a new chapter for Apple.
John Ternus became Apple CEO on September 1, making the September event his first major product launch at the helm.
That adds another reason to watch beyond the hardware. Apple’s September keynotes have followed a very familiar formula for years, so we’ll be interested to see whether anything changes under the company’s new leadership.
