Google has built its own self-driving car, it has no steering wheel or accelerator or brake pedals.

The company unveiled the two-seater prototype during an interview at the Recode Code Conference in California.

Google’s prototype car relies on built-in sensors, a system to safely guide the vehicle without the use of today’s cars standard instruments and operates at speeds of around 25 miles per hour.

Google CEO Sergey Brin introduced the car at the conference and said that the goal of the company’s self-driving cars is to be “significantly” safer than human-driven cars in the next few years. The prototype was made using off-the-shelf car parts, foam and an electric motor.

“The reason I’m super excited about these prototypes is the ability to change the world and the community around you,” Brin said.
