Most USB-C chargers give you very little indication of what is actually happening after you plug something in. TORRAS is taking a different approach with the FlashEye-Dot, a 45W USB-C charger that puts real-time charging information on a built-in display — and gives it an animated face for good measure.
The FlashEye-Dot supports USB-C Power Delivery at up to 45W, making it suitable for smartphones, tablets and lower-power laptops including the MacBook Air. Its defining feature, however, is the screen, which can show the wattage being delivered while displaying different animations as charging progresses.
That’s more useful than it might initially sound. Charging speeds can vary considerably depending on the device, cable and battery level, while a phone’s charging indicator rarely tells you precisely how much power it is receiving. FlashEye-Dot effectively builds some of the functionality of a separate USB power meter into the charger itself.
TORRAS also offers an iPhone 18 Edition with expanded device recognition and a revised interface. The Classic version recognizes iPhone 15 through iPhone 17 models, while the newer edition extends that functionality across the iPhone 18 family. That doesn’t make it an iPhone-only charger: other compatible USB-C hardware can still use its 45W output.
There are limitations to the information displayed. Some features depend on data provided by the connected device, meaning the charger isn’t independently measuring everything happening inside the battery. Older Lightning-based iPhones can charge using the appropriate cable, for example, but may not expose enough information for features such as complete device identification or battery-percentage displays.
TORRAS says the charger uses GaN components alongside thermal management and charging-control technologies. Claims about improved battery longevity or thermal benefits would need independent long-term testing, but the underlying proposition is straightforward: a single-port 45W charger that makes power delivery easier to see.
The single USB-C port is also an important compromise. This isn’t intended to replace a multiport desktop charger capable of powering several devices simultaneously. You’re effectively paying extra for the display, device recognition and distinctive design rather than unusually high charging output.
Pricing is listed at $69.99, although promotional pricing has reportedly brought it down to $49.99. At either price, cheaper 45W chargers aren’t difficult to find.
FlashEye-Dot therefore makes the most sense for people who genuinely want to see what their charger is doing. The animated face is the gimmick; the live power information is the feature that could actually earn it a place in your travel bag.
