Spotify adds shareable weekly stats ahead of Wrapped season

Spotify has added a new feature called “listening stats,” offering users a weekly look at their listening habits. The update provides a snapshot of top artists and songs over the past month, along with playlists and insights designed to reflect each listener’s preferences.

The feature is available to both free and premium users across more than 60 markets. Each week, Spotify compiles a summary that highlights standout moments in a user’s listening history—such as a recently discovered artist, a milestone in streaming activity, or a track that’s been on repeat. It’s a smaller-scale companion to the company’s annual Wrapped feature, which presents a year-end overview of listening data.

Spotify’s move fits a broader trend among streaming platforms using personalized data to increase user engagement and encourage sharing. The design of listening stats emphasizes shareability, allowing users to post their weekly summaries directly to social apps such as Instagram and WhatsApp. This approach aligns with Spotify’s existing features like daylist, Release Radar, and Discover Weekly, which use recommendation algorithms to highlight both familiar and new music.

Accessing the new feature is straightforward: users can tap their profile image, select the “listening stats” tab, and explore their top tracks, artists, and highlights. The app also includes an option to share these insights publicly or privately, offering another way for listeners to express their musical identity through data.

Spotify’s focus on personal analytics continues to blend streaming with social interaction, encouraging users to see music not only as entertainment but as an evolving record of their preferences. While Wrapped remains the flagship annual event, weekly listening stats provide a more immediate and ongoing snapshot of listening behavior—one that may keep users returning to the app more frequently.
