HONOR is heading to LEAP 2026 in Riyadh with one of its more unusual AI concepts in tow: the Robot Phone. The device will form the centrepiece of the company’s appearance at the technology event, which runs from August 31 to September 3, as HONOR looks to turn its broader “Alpha Plan” AI strategy into something visitors can actually see and interact with.

The Robot Phone is being presented by HONOR as the world’s first device of its kind and as an important part of the company’s evolving approach to artificial intelligence. Details about exactly what the hardware will offer remain limited, however, making its LEAP appearance particularly interesting. Beyond the headline-grabbing name, the bigger question will be how HONOR distinguishes the Robot Phone from increasingly AI-heavy conventional smartphones.
That distinction matters as smartphone manufacturers search for the next phase of mobile computing. Generative and agentic AI features have quickly become standard talking points across the industry, but the practical differences between competing ecosystems are often less dramatic than the marketing suggests. HONOR’s challenge at LEAP 2026 will be demonstrating that its AI ecosystem can produce useful experiences rather than simply adding another layer of AI branding to familiar devices.
The company plans to use its booth to demonstrate connected scenarios involving smartphones, tablets, wearables and other smart hardware. Visitors will be able to see how these products communicate across HONOR’s ecosystem, alongside new products, technologies and interactive demonstrations.
That approach reflects a broader shift in the consumer electronics market. Device makers increasingly want customers to think beyond individual smartphones and instead consider collections of connected hardware, with AI acting as the software layer tying those products together. The idea is hardly unique to HONOR, but execution — particularly interoperability, ease of use and genuinely useful automation — will determine whether these ecosystems become valuable or merely convenient ways of encouraging customers to stay with one brand.
HONOR Regional CMO Lei Kunming is also scheduled to deliver a keynote on the LEAP main stage titled “HONOR Alpha Plan: From Vision to Reality.” The presentation is expected to provide more detail about how the company intends to bring its AI strategy into everyday consumer devices.
HONOR’s return to LEAP also underlines the growing importance of Saudi Arabia to global technology companies. Riyadh has become an increasingly prominent destination for major technology events, investment and product showcases, giving manufacturers another significant platform for reaching consumers and industry partners across the Middle East.
For HONOR, though, the Robot Phone will likely attract much of the attention. The concept is intriguing, but LEAP 2026 should provide a better opportunity to judge whether it represents a meaningful new category of intelligent device or an experimental extension of the smartphone.
