Eight Sleep is shrinking its smart sleep system while expanding the amount of data it collects. The newly announced Pod 6 arrives with a substantially smaller Hub, a denser array of biometric sensors and a lower entry price, starting at AED 7,999 in the UAE.
The biggest physical change is the Hub, the hardware responsible for managing the Pod’s temperature system. Eight Sleep says the redesigned unit is roughly half the size of its predecessor and compact enough to fit beneath most conventional bed frames. Its revised thermal system uses redesigned thermoelectric coolers and improved airflow, with the company claiming temperature changes are up to 20% faster than on previous generations.
Dual-zone control remains central to the concept. Each side can operate independently, allowing two sleepers to use different temperatures without one setting affecting the other.
More significant for Eight Sleep’s increasingly data-driven approach is the Pod 6 Cover. The number of biometric sensors jumps from two on Pod 5 to 18, with the system monitoring measurements including heart rate, heart-rate variability, breathing, snoring and sleep stages without requiring a wearable.
Eight Sleep says the extra sensors help distinguish between sleepers sharing a bed and separate their signals from those of children or pets. The company also claims measurements can approach medical-grade reference equipment, although those accuracy claims will matter more once independently validated across real-world conditions.
That data feeds Autopilot, Eight Sleep’s software platform, which adjusts temperature and other settings according to detected sleep patterns and environmental conditions. Autopilot is mandatory rather than optional, making the Pod’s sticker price only part of its long-term cost.
UAE subscriptions cost AED 799 annually for Standard, AED 1,199 for Enhanced and AED 1,499 for Elite. Standard includes a two-year warranty, while the two higher tiers extend coverage to five years.
Pod 6 also introduces a Solo configuration designed to cover one side of a King bed. At AED 7,999, it lowers the initial cost for someone who doesn’t need a full-bed installation. Standard models begin at AED 9,999 for Queen, rising to AED 10,999 for King and AED 11,999 for Emperor.
The launch comes as Eight Sleep expands internationally and develops software features including Pregnancy Mode, Biological Age and Autopilot 4.0. It is also pursuing regulatory clearance related to sleep-apnea applications in Abu Dhabi and the US.
Pod 6 is available from September 23 across Eight Sleep’s supported markets. The smaller hardware and lower starting price make this generation easier to accommodate, but the compulsory annual subscription remains an important part of the buying equation.
