AULUMU’s ADuo case wants to protect Apple’s foldable without bulk

Apple’s iPhone Duo has barely landed, and the accessory makers are already lining up. AULUMU, a design-focused accessory brand founded in 2022, has opened pre-orders for the ADuo Particle Aramid Fiber Case, one of the first third-party cases built specifically for Apple’s foldable.

The core material will be familiar to anyone who has shopped for premium phone cases in recent years. The ADuo uses 1500D aramid fibre, the same family of synthetic fibre found in bulletproof vests and aerospace parts, and a material that brands such as Pitaka have spent years turning into a popular case category. Its appeal is simple: it is strong and very light, so a case can add protection without turning a slim phone into a brick. That matters even more for a foldable, where extra thickness and weight are felt every time the device is opened and closed.

AULUMU’s twist is visual. Rather than the plain woven look typical of aramid cases, the ADuo layers a particle-style pattern over the weave, which the company says is inspired by the structure of the cosmos. There are two versions. Abyss Blue uses a UV-processed gradient effect, while Polar Black pairs glossy particles with black fibre so the finish changes with the light. Whether that reads as a refined design or simply busy will come down to personal taste.

On protection, AULUMU lists a protective frame around the screen edges, an aluminium-alloy camera guard, and raised lips around both the display and the camera module to keep them off flat surfaces. The press materials describe this both as “dual-screen” and “front-screen” protection, so it isn’t fully clear how much coverage the inner folding display gets, or how the case handles the hinge, which is the most fragile part of any foldable. Those are the details buyers should look for once the case reaches shelves. The company also claims a slim, lightweight profile, though it hasn’t published weight or thickness figures.

MagSafe support is included, so the case should work with Apple’s magnetic chargers, wallets and stands, including AULUMU’s own G09 Mag Stand.

Pricing is the sticking point. At $89.98 or £67.99, the ADuo sits firmly at the premium end of the case market. Pre-orders are open now through AULUMU’s website, with Amazon US and UK stock expected from mid-November. For people who just spent foldable money on a new iPhone, spending close to a hundred dollars on a case may feel reasonable. The bigger question is whether early cases like this will be the best options, or whether makers that wait for real-world feedback on the iPhone Duo’s weak spots will end up getting the design right.
