ASUS is expanding its Copilot+ PC lineup in the UAE with the launch of the new Zenbook 14 UX3480QA, a lightweight Snapdragon X-powered laptop aimed at students, mobile professionals and anyone prioritising portability over heavyweight performance hardware.
The Zenbook 14 arrives in the UAE during the back-to-school period, with ASUS pricing the Zabriskie Beige model at AED 3,999 and the Arctic Blue version at AED 4,999. Both use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform, while AMD and Intel versions of the laptop are expected to reach the UAE later, although ASUS has not yet confirmed their local pricing or release dates.
Portability is a major part of the pitch. The Zenbook 14 weighs from 1.1kg and measures between 13.9mm and 16.9mm thick, putting it firmly in ultraportable territory. ASUS is also using its Ceraluminum material for the lid, combining aluminium with a ceramic-like finish designed to better resist the scratches, fingerprints and general wear that thin laptops tend to collect.
The UAE launch configuration comes with a 14-inch 16:10 OLED display running at 1920 x 1200 and 60Hz, with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and a claimed 300 nits of brightness. That is a fairly conventional resolution and refresh rate for an everyday productivity machine, particularly compared with the higher-resolution OLED panels available elsewhere in the premium Zenbook range. ASUS says future configurations can offer up to a 3K 120Hz Lumina OLED display.
Inside, the Snapdragon X processor is paired with Qualcomm Adreno graphics and a 45 TOPS NPU, allowing the machine to qualify as a Windows 11 Copilot+ PC. Memory goes up to 16GB of LPDDR5X, while storage tops out at a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD on the announced UAE configuration.
The choice of Snapdragon also means buyers should consider their software requirements. Windows on Arm has improved substantially as Microsoft and Qualcomm have pushed Copilot+ PCs, but people relying on specialised legacy applications or peripherals should still check compatibility before moving away from a traditional x86 laptop.
ASUS has avoided stripping away connectivity in pursuit of a thinner chassis. There are two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, a USB-A connection, HDMI 2.1 TMDS and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 handle wireless connectivity, while an IR camera supports Windows Hello facial recognition. Microsoft Pluton security and Windows Studio Effects are also included.
A 50Wh battery powers the laptop, accompanied by a compact 68W adapter. ASUS hasn’t provided a specific battery-runtime figure in the launch specifications, so its all-day battery claim will need to be judged through real-world testing.
Later Zenbook 14 variants will broaden the hardware choices considerably. The UX3480KA is planned with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 7 345 and a 50 TOPS NPU, while the UX3480AA will offer up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 3 processor and 50 TOPS of NPU performance.
Eligible buyers also receive three months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage, while ASUS Perfect Warranty can provide accidental-damage coverage when the laptop is registered within 90 days of purchase. With the Snapdragon model arriving first, the bigger question is how compelling the Zenbook 14 becomes once its AMD and Intel alternatives join it in the UAE.
