Apple has unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro built around its M6 chip, launching alongside a new M6 iMac. In the UAE, the laptop starts at AED 8,499, or AED 8,099 with education pricing. Pre-orders open on October 28, and the first deliveries and in-store availability begin on Friday, November 6.

The entry configuration has 16GB of unified memory, configurable up to 32GB, and 1TB of storage. It comes in silver and space black.

Compared with M5, the M6 chip adds two cores to both the CPU and the GPU, bringing each to 12 cores. Apple says the CPU includes the world’s fastest CPU core. The GPU has Neural Accelerators in every core, along with a third-generation ray-tracing engine and Dynamic Caching. The chip also adds a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and raises memory bandwidth to 170GB/s.

According to Apple’s internal testing, the new MacBook Pro delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster on-device AI workloads than the M5 model. Apple also says the Neural Engine is up to 1.9 times faster. Those comparisons were made against an M5 configuration with 32GB of memory and a 4TB SSD. In specific applications, Apple reports gains of up to about 1.3 times over M5 in Blender rendering, Xcode builds, and LLM prompt processing, and up to 1.2 times in Affinity image processing. Against the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro, the figures climb as high as 13 times.

Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours, which it says is the longest of any Mac. With a 96W or higher-wattage USB-C adapter, the battery can reach 50 percent in about 30 minutes. Wireless connectivity moves to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and the laptop supports up to two external displays.

Much of the remaining hardware carries over. The Liquid Retina XDR display reaches up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness and is available with an optional nano-texture finish. The 12MP Center Stage camera, three-microphone array, and six-speaker sound system return. So do the ports: three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack.

The laptop ships with macOS 27, which focuses on speed and reliability. Changes include faster AirDrop transfers, quicker network file browsing, and a rebuilt search system behind Spotlight, Photos, and Mail. The update also refines the Liquid Glass design.

Apple says the laptop is made from 45 percent recycled content. It is also the first time the company has used fully recycled tantalum in multiple capacitors.

The M6 model now forms the base of the MacBook Pro range, sitting below the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max configurations, which Apple continues to sell.
